Below the Bala Quila Fort sprawls the huge palace complex, its massive
gates and tank lined by a beautifully symmetrical chain of ghats and pavillion.
Today, most of the complex is occupied by govt. offices, but there is
a museum (closed on fridays) housed in the former city palace. Examples
of miniature writing, miniarure painting of the Bundi school and ivory
,sandalwood and jade objets d'art as well as the usual armoury
displays, are among the museum's unusual exhibits. City palace was
constructed in the early 14th century. The architecture has the influence
of both Moghal as well Rajput styles .The City palace is situated in the
heart of the old city.
